Sync

Reminders can be synchronized among different computers using one of the many file synchronization software currently available on the market*. The key idea is to synchronize the reminders database file. Changes to this file are recorded by the file synchronization software and the latest reminders database file is transfered to the computer currently online.

The reminders database file is named Unforgettable.dat and it is stored in Windows' My Documents folder. This is the folder that must be set to be monitored by the file synchronization software.

*we recommend Microsoft's Live Mesh synchronization software

Sync Sample

Lets say we want to synchronize reminders between ComputerA and ComputerB.
We must apply the following simple settings on both computers to:

  1. The file synchronization software
setup to launch at windows startup and to monitor Windows' My Documents folder which contains the reminders database file.
  2. Unforgettable
setup to NOT launch on Windows startup (uncheck the Automatically run when I log on to Windows (recommended) option from the General tab in Preferences window)

We are currently working on ComputerA. We may add, delete or edit reminders. When we finish our work we close Unforgettable or even the computer.

We start ComputerB. After Windows logon wait a couple of minutes in order to make sure that the file synchronization software has downloaded the latest reminders database file. Launch Unnforgettable.

The same procedure must be followed if we want to also sync reminders with a third computer and so on.
